Teeth are often overused and are exposed to a variety of food and drinks. Teeth are usually prone to infections. The most common complaint is toothache. The main cause of toothache is tooth decay. 1. The most common and effective home remedy for toothache is clove oil. A few drops of clove oil may be applied on the affected tooth for 2 to 3 times a day.
2. Gargling an anti-septic solution can be of great help as well for toothache. A mixture of 5 ml each of clove oil and eucalyptus oil, and water can be used as the solution. Gargling with this 3 time s daily can lessen the pain very much.
3. Another home remedy treatment is garlic. Prepare a mixture of 1 or 2 cloves of garlic and a pinch of salt and making it into a paste and should be applied on the affected tooth. Garlic has analgesic (pain-killer), anti-inflammatory (anti-swelling), and anti-bacterial properties.
4. Onion also can be used as a home remedy treatment for toothache since it also has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. A small piece of onion may be placed on the affected tooth. Chewing raw onion for 3 minutes is enough to kill the bacteria present in the mouth.
5. Lime can also be used. Lime is a rich source of Vitamin C which is useful in maintaining health of the teeth as well as other bones of the body. It helps prevents toothache, tooth decay, bleeding of the gums and dental carries.
6. Flossing after every meal helps remove food particles that may be trapped in between the teeth and gums.
